We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Backhoe Operator

Location: Benin City, Edo
Employment Type: Contract

Description

• A backhoe operator is responsible for operating and maintaining back hoes and other heavy machinery used in construction and excavation projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate Backhoe: Skillfully operate backhoes to dig trenches, holes, and foundations, as well as load and transport materials such as dirt, rocks, and debris.
• Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on backhoes to ensure they are in good working condition. This includes cleaning, lubricating, and making minor repairs as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. This includes wearing protective gear and maintaining communication with other crew members.
• Site Preparation: Visually assess construction sites to identify underground utilities and other obstacles that may affect excavation work. Ensure that areas are marked before digging.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other construction workers, engineers, and project managers to coordinate tasks and ensure timely project completion.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Interested candidates should possess an SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification 
• Experience: Proven experience operating backhoes and other heavy machinery, typically requiring 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and understand site plans provided by project managers.
• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to handle the demands of the job, including heavy lifting and operating machinery for extended periods.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
