Job Title: Brand Communications Manager
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time The Role
We are looking for a Brand Communications Manager to join our growing team and take ownership of the day-to-day strategic and operational management of client brands and communications projects. This is a hands-on role for a communications professional who can think strategically, manage projects confidently and execute exceptionally well. You will be responsible for translating client objectives into clear communications strategies and ensuring that campaigns, content, PR activities and brand projects are delivered on time and to a high standard. You should be equally comfortable developing a communications strategy, managing a content calendar, coordinating a PR campaign, reviewing social media content, following up with team members, communicating with clients and keeping multiple projects moving at once. We are looking for a communications strategist who happens to be a strong project and brand manager — not simply a social media manager.
Key Responsibilties
Develop and implement communications strategies for assigned clients and brands. Understand each client's business objectives, audience, positioning and competitive landscape. Translate brand strategy into practical communications, PR, content and social media plans. Develop campaign concepts, messaging frameworks and communications angles. Ensure all communications are aligned with the client's brand positioning and objectives. Stay informed about relevant industry, cultural, media and digital trends.
Take ownership of assigned client projects from briefing through execution and reporting. Develop project timelines, work plans, deliverables and deadlines. Coordinate internal team members, creatives, vendors, influencers, media and other stakeholders. Keep projects moving and proactively identify potential delays or challenges. Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Conduct regular project follow-ups and ensure agreed deliverables are completed. Maintain clear documentation of project status, deliverables and next steps. Prepare client updates, presentations and campaign reports where required.
Act as a custodian of assigned client brands across communications touchpoints. Maintain consistency in brand voice, messaging, positioning and visual communication. Review and approve communications materials before client submission or publication. Understand the difference between brand strategy, marketing communications, PR and social media and how they work together. Identify opportunities to strengthen brand visibility, authority and relevance.
Develop and manage social media strategies and content plans for assigned brands. Work closely with designers, content creators, videographers and copywriters to produce compelling content. Review social media content and ensure it reflects the brand strategy. Understand Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and other relevant platforms. Monitor content performance and use insights to improve future communication. Identify relevant trends, conversations and opportunities for brands to participate in. Support the development of social-first campaigns and digital activations.
Support and manage PR campaigns from strategy to execution. Develop media angles, press briefs, interview briefs and PR materials. Coordinate media outreach and maintain relationships with journalists and media platforms. Track media opportunities, coverage and campaign deliverables. Support media interviews, events, launches and brand activations. Research and identify relevant media, influencers and partnership opportunities.
Develop creative campaign ideas and communications concepts. Write and/or edit campaign copy, social media copy, briefs, presentations and communications materials. Develop content pillars and editorial direction for client brands. Brief creative teams effectively and provide clear feedback. Ensure campaigns have a consistent narrative across PR, social media, digital and other communication channels.
Track campaign and communications performance. Prepare monthly or campaign-specific reports. Analyse social media, PR and digital performance data. Turn campaign data into useful insights and recommendations. Identify what is working, what is not and what should be improved.
What We Are Looking For
3–5 years of experience in brand communications, public relations, marketing communications, brand management, social media or a related field. Strong understanding of brand strategy and communications strategy. Demonstrable experience managing projects from brief to completion. Strong project management and organisational skills. Experience managing social media for brands, preferably across multiple platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong copywriting and editing ability. Experience working with creative teams and managing creative deliverables. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple clients, projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong presentation and client-facing skills. Good understanding of the Nigerian media, digital and influencer landscape. Ability to work independently, take initiative and solve problems. A strong sense of what makes a brand relevant, distinctive and culturally interesting.
Agency experience. Experience managing multiple client accounts. Experience working on brand launches, events or integrated campaigns. Experience in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, luxury, corporate or purpose-led brands. Experience working with influencers and creators. Experience developing social-first campaigns. Experience using project management, social media management or analytics tools. Experience with SEO, digital marketing or Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO). A portfolio demonstrating previous campaigns, brand work, content or communications projects.
The Person We Want
Strategic — You understand the “why” behind communications, not just the “what.” Organised — You can manage timelines, people, deliverables and deadlines without constant supervision. Commercially aware — You understand that communications should ultimately support a brand's business objectives. Creative — You can spot a strong idea and turn a simple brief into something people want to pay attention to. Detail-oriented — You notice inconsistencies, errors and gaps before the client does. Proactive — You don't wait to be told what to do when you can see what needs to happen next. A strong communicator — You can communicate confidently with clients, journalists, creatives, influencers and internal teams. Accountable — When you own a project, you own the outcome.
