Main Function
The Commis Chef is an entry-level kitchen role responsible for supporting food preparation across assigned sections under the guidance of senior chefs.
Role Responsibilities
Preparation & Support:Carry out basic food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and ingredient prep.
Assist assigned kitchen sections during mise en place and service.
Follow recipes and instructions accurately and consistently.
Hygiene & Learning:Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment.
Practice proper stock rotation and storage procedures.
Learn techniques and station operations to progress within the kitchen brigade.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent apprenticeship.
Experience:0-2 years of kitchen experience; culinary school graduates and apprentices welcome.
Skills:Technical Skills:Basic knife skills
Food preparation techniques
Hygiene and food safety awareness.
Soft Skills:Willingness to learn
Teamwork
Reliability
Ability to work under pressure.
