Job Title: Desktop Technician Level I
Location: Lagos Job Description
Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains desktop and workstation equipment and software including telephones (std & VOIP), desktop/laptop computers (WIN7, WIN10, MAC OS), and printers. Handles equipment moves with little or no supervision. Able to identify, analyze and resolve basic troubleshooting items but defers to supervisor or Level 1 tech for more complex hardware issues. Able to answer basic user questions about equipment features. Has basic knowledge of the organization's equipment and associated software and services. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.
2–5 years experience in network support or a similar role. Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP. Experience with Cisco or similar networking equipment. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are an advantage. Basic understanding of Windows server environments and Active Directory is an advantage.
Engineer pre-requisites/Tools needed
A laptop running Microsoft Operating system (minimum Windows 11 but subject to change Console Cable A terminal emulator program. (recommended ones are Putty or TeraTerm or Poderosa) Serial Port (either built-in to the laptop or USB adapter) Networking support knowledge obtained in the field and appropriate OEM device specific training and certification needed to work on the OEM products. Teams or Webex applications for connection with Customer network NOC if required Engineering tool kit.
