 Job Title: Finance Manager

Req ID: 134222

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid) Job Description

As a Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and compliance. The successful candidate will take ownership of accurate financial records, compliant accounting operations, tax and statutory reporting, and effective financial controls for the territory. He/she will combine hands-on accounting execution with professional judgement, independently prioritising work, resolving moderately complex issues and guiding other finance professionals where required. Your impact will be seen in accurate books, timely reporting, disciplined payment and reconciliation cycles, and finance processes that consistently meet local regulations, internal standards and accounting requirements. If you're an accounting professional ready to take ownership, work independently, and contribute to strategic financial decisions, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Close:

Own day-to-day accounting activities and ensure transactions are complete, accurate, appropriately supported, and recorded on time. Manage the integrity of the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, provisions and period-end closing activities. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, payment cycles, collections and outstanding balances, escalating material issues promptly. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation in line with local accounting requirements and internal instructions. Use SAP ERP effectively to process, review and improve accounting workflows and data quality.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reporting schedules. Analyse balance sheet and income statement movements, investigate variances and help translate results into clear actions for finance stakeholders. Support financial performance reporting through accurate, timely and well-controlled accounting information. Contribute to management reporting and provide accounting insight on material transactions and reporting matters.

Tax, Statutory & Audit Compliance:

Coordinate local tax accounting and tax reporting requirements, supporting accurate and timely filings and maintaining appropriate documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable local accounting and tax regulations, internal policies and relevant reporting standards. Coordinate audit preparation, respond to information requests and support statutory audit activities through complete reconciliations and evidence. Maintain strong compliance discipline and address identified gaps through clear corrective actions.

Internal Control & Process Improvement:

Apply and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes, including reconciliations, approvals, segregation of duties and financial documentation. Identify opportunities to standardise, simplify and improve accounting processes while protecting accuracy and compliance. Support change initiatives affecting finance processes and systems, ensuring controls remain effective through implementation. Promote a culture of continuous learning, disciplined execution and consistent application of accounting standards.

Collaboration & Professional Leadership:

Partner effectively with Finance colleagues, business stakeholders, auditors, tax advisers and other relevant partners. Communicate accounting requirements, risks and actions clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Set work priorities independently, provide guidance to other professionals and operate with minimal supervision while seeking guidance when appropriate.

What success looks like

Accurate, complete and timely financial records and reporting, with reconciling items actively managed to closure. Consistent compliance with accounting, tax, statutory and internal-control requirements. Well-controlled payment, receivables and month-end processes that support operational efficiency. Audit-ready documentation, clear ownership of actions and timely resolution of finance issues. Improved accounting processes, stronger data quality and effective collaboration across stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline. Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent is strongly preferred. Significant hands-on experience in financial accounting, financial statements, tax accounting/reporting, reconciliations, audit preparation, internal control, and compliance. Practical experience with SAP ERP and strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Sound knowledge of accounting standards and the ability to apply local statutory and tax requirements in day-to-day finance operations. Experience working in a complex or multinational environment is advantageous.
