 Job Title: Finishing Concrete Foreman

Location: Lagos Role Overview

The Finishing Concrete Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating concrete finishing activities on construction sites, ensuring that concrete works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Supervise and coordinate concrete finishing crews, including concrete finishers, labourers, and other site personnel. Oversee concrete placement, levelling, screeding, floating, trowelling, edging, and curing activities. Ensure concrete surfaces are finished to the required levels, slopes, dimensions, and specified standards. Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure correct execution of concrete works. Coordinate with Site Engineers, Project Managers, Surveyors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow. Inspect concrete works during and after finishing to identify and rectify defects such as cracks, honeycombing, uneven surfaces, and improper levels. Monitor the quality and consistency of concrete finishing throughout the project. Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of concrete finishing tools and equipment. Coordinate the timing of concrete pours and finishing activities to prevent delays and ensure continuous operations. Supervise the application of curing methods and ensure compliance with project specifications. Monitor manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for concrete finishing activities. Enforce site safety procedures and ensure all workers use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices. Conduct toolbox talks and provide workers with clear instructions on daily activities and safety requirements. Maintain daily records of work completed, manpower, materials, equipment, and site issues. Liaise with subcontractors and other site teams to resolve operational and technical issues. Ensure the work area is kept clean, organised, and free from unnecessary hazards. Report progress, quality issues, material requirements, and manpower needs to the Site Engineer or Construction Manager. Ensure all finishing works are completed within the approved project schedule and to the required quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Building Technology, or a related field is an advantage. 7–10 years of relevant experience in concrete works, with significant experience in a supervisory or foreman position. Proven experience supervising concrete finishing activities on building, civil, industrial, infrastructure, or similar construction projects. Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing, curing, joints, and surface treatment. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Experience working with power floats, screeds, vibrators, trowels, and other concrete finishing equipment. Good understanding of construction site safety and quality requirements. Ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively.
