The Fleet Driver is responsible for the safe, professional and efficient operation of Ecovia's electric vehicles (EVs) while transporting passengers, clients or other authorized persons in accordance with company standards. The Driver is expected to protect and properly operate the assigned vehicle, comply with all road safety and company requirements, maintain high customer service standards, monitor vehicle condition and charging status, and promptly report faults, incidents or operational issues. The Driver will play an important role in supporting Ecovia's mission of accelerating the adoption of clean and sustainable mobility in Nigeria.


Key Responsibilities
Safe Vehicle Operation:

Operate assigned electric vehicles safely and responsibly. Comply with Nigerian traffic laws, road safety regulations, and Ecovia's driving policies. Observe speed limits and approved driving procedures. Practice defensive driving at all times. Avoid reckless driving, harsh braking, excessive acceleration, and other unsafe driving behaviors. Ensure passengers and other road users are treated with care and respect. Never operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that may impair driving ability.


Electric Vehicle Management:

Understand and correctly operate the assigned EV. Monitor battery level, range, and charging status. Follow Ecovia's approved charging procedures. Plan trips with sufficient battery range. Use designated charging stations appropriately. Report charging faults or abnormal battery behavior promptly. Avoid unnecessary battery depletion or inefficient driving practices. Ensure the vehicle is connected to charging when required and authorized. Maintain awareness of the vehicle's estimated range before commencing trips.


Vehicle Care & Daily Inspection:

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip checks covering tyres, brakes, lights, wipers, mirrors, battery/charging status, and dashboard warnings. Report mechanical, electrical, or technical faults immediately. Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable. Ensure assigned vehicle accessories and equipment remain secure.


Customer Service:

Assist passengers where reasonably required when transporting customers, corporate clients, or ride-hailing passengers. Maintain a clean and comfortable vehicle environment. Handle customer information confidentially. Escalate customer complaints to the appropriate supervisor. Maintain professional communication at all times.


Trip & Route Management:

Follow assigned schedules and routes. Arrive at pickup points on time. Monitor traffic and identify practical alternative routes where necessary. Minimize unnecessary mileage, delays, and idle time. Complete assigned trips within reasonable operational timelines. Confirm trip completion through the Company's approved system or process. Maintain accurate trip records.


Vehicle Charging & Energy Efficiency:

Monitor battery levels throughout assigned trips. Charge vehicles according to approved schedules. Avoid unnecessary charging delays. Report charging station faults. Avoid unnecessary energy consumption. Follow recommended EV driving practices. Report unusual reductions in vehicle range or battery performance.


Incident & Emergency Management:

Immediately report accidents, breakdowns, charging incidents, and safety concerns. Follow Ecovia's emergency response procedures. Secure the vehicle and passengers where reasonably possible during emergencies. Cooperate with Operations, Fleet, insurance providers, and relevant authorities during investigations. Complete required incident documentation. Never conceal an accident, vehicle damage, or operational incident.
