Francophone Consultant - Abuja

Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition Ltd (Sahel) is a leading management consulting firm focused on the agricultural and nutrition sectors in Africa. We partner with government agencies, private sector companies and leading international development organizations to conduct research, analyze policies, develop strategies and implement programs that promote sustainable food security and improved nutrition. We have worked on a variety of projects across West Africa, including in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, and Senegal.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Francophone Consultant

Location: Abuja (FCT) 

Role Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue business development opportunities in Francophone and Anglophone regions, including partnerships, funding prospects, and strategic collaborations aligned with the organization’s growth priorities.
• Conduct donor and grant research to map potential funding sources (foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, private sector partners) and assess eligibility, alignment, and partnership potential.
• Lead and support proposal and grant writing processes in French and English, from concept note development to full proposal submission, ensuring responsiveness to donor priorities and programmatic goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, implementing partners, private sector actors, and regional institutions across Francophone Africa.
• Contribute to partnership negotiation and management, ensuring timely communication, reporting, and follow-up with partners and funders.
• Prepare high-quality presentations, reports, and pitch materials in French and English to communicate the organization’s value proposition, project results, and strategic vision.
• Track and analyze funding trends, partnership opportunities, and development priorities in Francophone countries to inform organizational strategy and positioning.
• Collaborate with internal teams (programs, communications, and finance) to ensure alignment of grant proposals and partnership initiatives with organizational goals.
• Support senior management and consultants in coordinating and executing key business development initiatives and donor engagement activities.

Role Requirements
We are looking for candidates with passion for agriculture who are driven and self-starters. Essential qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
• High-quality analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken) is required.
• Willingness to travel (required).
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
