JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled, organised and hands-on Furniture Production Supervisor to coordinate daily workshop operations, supervise artisans and ensure that furniture is produced to the required quality standards, within agreed budgets and delivery timelines.

The successful candidate must understand furniture production processes and be capable of turning designs, measurements and customer specifications into finished products while controlling material wastage and maintaining workshop discipline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise daily furniture production activities, including cutting, fabrication, assembly, finishing and installation.
2. Allocate jobs to carpenters, upholsterers, polishers and other workshop personnel according to their skills and production priorities.
3. Interpret furniture designs, drawings, measurements and customer specifications.
4. Prepare production schedules and monitor progress against agreed deadlines.
5. Inspect materials and finished products to ensure quality, accuracy, durability and proper finishing.
6. Monitor the use of timber, boards, fittings, adhesives, fabrics and other materials to minimise waste.
7. Maintain records of materials received, materials issued, work completed, production costs and outstanding jobs.
8. Identify production delays, technical problems and quality issues and recommend practical solutions.
9. Coordinate furniture delivery, installation and rectification of defects where necessary.
10. Ensure that workshop tools, machinery and equipment are properly maintained and safely used.
11. Enforce workshop safety, cleanliness, discipline and proper storage of materials.
12. Submit regular production reports covering completed jobs, pending orders, material requirements, wastage, quality issues and staff performance.
13. Work with management to improve productivity, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in furniture production, carpentry, woodworking or workshop supervision.
• Demonstrable practical knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes and materials.
• Experience supervising artisans and coordinating multiple production jobs.
• Ability to interpret furniture drawings, measurements and specifications.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage materials, control wastage and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to quality, accountability, safety and professional conduct.
• A relevant technical qualification is an advantage; strong practical experience and demonstrable competence will also be considered.
