Habanero Pepper Farm Attendant

Reporting Structure: Reports to Farm Manager or Field Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Habanero Pepper Farm Attendant to assist in the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of habanero peppers in open-field conditions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. This role contributes to overall field productivity and ensures that habanero crops are grown and harvested to meet the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties:


Support the preparation of planting beds, soil conditioning, and transplanting of habanero seedlings
Ensure proper spacing, weeding, pruning, and staking of pepper plants
Observe plant health and report any signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation as instructed by the farm manager
Carefully hand-harvest mature habanero peppers, minimizing damage to plants and produce
Sort, grade, and package harvested peppers according to established quality standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and field areas
Safely operate basic agricultural tools and machinery (e.g., hoes, hand sprayers, tillers)
Adhere to all farm safety guidelines and hygiene practices, especially when handling produce
Document daily work activities and report progress to the supervisor


Qualifications:


Prior experience in vegetable farming or horticulture preferred, particularly with pepper or similar crops
Capability to perform outdoor physical labor for extended periods, including bending, kneeling, and lifting
Fundamental knowledge of crop care, pest management, and field irrigation systems
Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Willingness to work in hot, humid, and occasionally wet weather conditions


Work Environment:


Outdoor fieldwork in direct sunlight, varying temperatures, and seasonal weather conditions
Work hours may fluctuate depending on crop cycles and weather, with extended hours during peak harvest periods
Tasks involve repetitive motions and standing or bending for prolonged periods
