Position Overview
The chosen applicant will conduct examinations on various vehicles, including automobiles, trucks, and specific mobile units.
They will assess the overall interior and exterior conditions of vehicles, and evaluate the functionality of the engine, transmission, steering system, brake system, air conditioning system, as well as other vehicle components.
Additionally, they will be expected to interpret these findings for customers looking to sell their vehicles.
Key Duties
Utilize vehicle scanning equipment to determine the condition of the vehicle.
Perform thorough inspections of vehicle interior and exterior components.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of the engine, transmission, brake system, steering and suspension system, air conditioning system, and other vehicle systems.
Carry out test drives for vehicles during inspections (both manual and automatic transmissions).
Convey the vehicle's condition to the seller for negotiation purposes.
Adhere to established procedures and policies.
Perform remote inspections for local car dealerships, as assigned.
Generate inspection reports for all examined vehicles.
Alert the supervisor of any vehicles with questionable odometer readings, identification numbers, or missing numbers.
Keep work area, tools, equipment, and official forms in an efficient, clean, and organized state.
Foster and maintain effective working relationships with the public, customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic laws and regulations while performing job duties.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold an HND or B.Sc Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (OND Holders, graduates from other disciplines, or mechanics may be considered if they possess relevant experience and/or skills in the mechanical/automotive industry)
At least 1 year of experience in vehicle diagnosis, inspection, or repair.
Capability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
Comprehensive knowledge of the latest automobile repairs and industry best practices.
Extensive familiarity with cars and their various models.
Practical experience in diagnosing vehicle issues (ranging from basic to advanced).
Proficiency in using vehicle scanning machines.
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
Must be computer literate.
Familiarity with chassis number (VIN) locations and vehicle odometer readings.
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, reading odometers and identifying questionable readings.
Proximity to the center location will be considered an advantage.
