Job Title: Integrated Solutions - Well Engineer Advisor
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers Partner with the Best
The Integrated Solutions Well Engineer Advisor is the technical authority for well engineering activities across Integrated Solutions projects and Centers of Excellence. This role provides expert support throughout the well lifecycle, including well construction, completions, intervention, optimization, and abandonment, from concept and tendering through execution and project close-out. Working closely with customers and cross-functional teams, the Advisor Well Engineer develops safe, cost-effective, and technically robust well solutions while ensuring compliance with Baker Hughes standards, regulatory requirements, and customer objectives. The role also provides technical leadership during project execution, driving operational excellence, well integrity, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.
As an Integrated Solutions Well Engineer Advisor, you will:
Lead well engineering activities in accordance with Baker Hughes HSE policies, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards and regulations. Defining technical requirements for rigs, equipment, services, and third-party providers to support project objectives. Provide technical expertise and support during tendering and project planning activities. Develop, review, and approve well designs, well programs, operational procedures, and technical documentation for drilling, completions, intervention, and abandonment operations. Prepare and review well cost estimates, operational schedules, risk assessments, and contingency plans. Lead technical assurance activities, including peer reviews, quality reviews, and risk management processes. Monitor project performance, operational progress, and expenditure, identifying opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and cost performance. Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and recommendations to optimize operational execution. Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and achievement of defined technical and operational objectives. Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and ensure lessons learned are documented and shared across the organization. Prepare and review technical reports, including End of Well Reports, after-action reviews, and lessons learned summaries. Contribute to the development and enhancement of engineering standards, policies, procedures, and technical guidance. Represent Baker Hughes through participation in technical forums, industry events, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Fuel Your Passion
To be successful in this role, you will:
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Have significant experience in well engineering, including drilling, completions, intervention, optimization, or abandonment operations. Demonstrate expertise in well design, operational planning, engineering analysis, and well execution. Have experience working across a variety of well applications and operating environments, including integrated projects and/or operator environments. Hold a valid Well Control certification and possess a strong understanding of well integrity and risk management principles. Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in industry-standard well engineering software and digital tools.
Knowledge of geomechanics and advanced well engineering applications. Proven track record of operational optimization and continuous improvement. Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical publications, industry forums, or professional societies.
