THE POSITION


Your workplace will be situated in Lagos, Nigeria, at one of our local subsidiaries: Lekki Freeport Terminal.
You'll be working directly under the Chief Operations Officer as part of the Operations Team, contributing to various aspects of maritime activities to ensure smooth port operations.


WHAT WILL YOUR DUTIES ENTAIL?


We're seeking a Port Operations Officer to manage and supervise daily maritime operations. This crucial role ensures the seamless functioning of shipping, logistics, and port activities while adhering to international maritime regulations and safety protocols.
As a Port Operations Officer, you'll be tasked with liaising between various stakeholders, such as shipping firms, port authorities, and regulatory bodies, to guarantee smooth operations. Additionally, you'll play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing expenses, and implementing innovative solutions to boost overall performance.


Duties:


Supervise daily maritime operations, including shipping and port activities.
Collaborate closely with the vessel planning Manager to optimize operations.
Ensure adherence to international maritime laws and safety standards.
Liaise with shipping companies, port authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Formulate and execute strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Guide and mentor a team of maritime professionals.
Recognize and mitigate risks associated with maritime operations.
Implement environmentally sustainable practices in operations


Candidate profile:

WHO ARE WE SEEKING?


In accordance with Article L122-1 of the French National Service Code, only European nationals between 18 and 28 years old are eligible for this VIE program.
A five-year higher education degree in Engineering, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field
Proficiency in both English and French
Strong analytical abilities and business acumen
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Capability to work in an international setting and manage remote teams
Self-motivated and results-driven
Basic understanding of TOS (terminal operating system) is advantageous
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint)
Ability to work well in a team and operate with minimal supervision
Capacity to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
