 Job Title: Optometrist - Benin

Location: Benin City, Edo

Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services, including eye examinations, diagnosis, treatment, and management of visual and ocular conditions.


Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and visual assessments. Diagnose and manage refractive errors and common ocular conditions. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other appropriate visual aids. Perform and interpret relevant optometric tests. Identify ocular abnormalities and refer patients to ophthalmologists when necessary. Provide patient education on eye health, hygiene, and preventive care. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Monitor patients’ progress and provide appropriate follow-up care. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. Ensure compliance with clinical standards and hospital policies.


Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry (OD) from a recognised institution. Must be registered with the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODOBRN). Possession of a valid practising licence.


Experience:

1–2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred. Experience in a hospital or clinical setting will be an added advantage. Fresh graduates with strong clinical competence may also be considered.


Skills:

Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good patient-care and counselling abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to use optometric equipment effectively. Good record-keeping and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in relevant computer applications is an added advantage.


Other Requirements:

Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and commitment to quality patient care. Must be willing to work according to the organisation’s duty schedule. Must be medically fit and able to work effectively in a clinical environment. Must possess good ethical standards and a strong sense of responsibility. Applicants must be willing to work in Benin City, Edo State.
