Our client is seeking a skilled, professional, and patient-focused Phlebotomist to provide safe, accurate, and efficient blood collection services for employees, guests, visitors, and individuals undergoing medical assessments or health screenings. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing venipuncture, collecting and handling blood specimens, ensuring accurate patient identification and specimen labelling, maintaining specimen integrity, and providing a comfortable and professional patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and blood collection procedures safely, efficiently, and with minimal patient discomfort. Accurately identify patients and verify relevant information before every specimen collection. Review laboratory requests and ensure the correct specimens are collected for requested investigations. Prepare patients appropriately for blood collection, including providing relevant instructions regarding fasting or other test requirements. Perform blood collection using appropriate collection tubes, needles, and techniques based on the required laboratory investigations. Demonstrate competence in routine and challenging venipuncture across different patient populations. Provide appropriate reassurance and support to patients who are anxious, uncomfortable, or apprehensive about blood collection. Monitor patients during and after blood collection and respond appropriately to complications such as dizziness, fainting, bleeding, or other adverse reactions. Correctly label, document, handle, store, and prepare specimens for transportation to the appropriate laboratory. Ensure specimens are collected in the correct quantity and condition and meet required laboratory standards. Minimize specimen rejection and recollection through accurate patient identification, collection, labeling, and handling procedures. Ensure timely delivery and transportation of specimens in accordance with established laboratory requirements. Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention and control procedures and standard precautions. Safely dispose of used needles, sharps, and other clinical waste in accordance with established healthcare safety procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and properly equipped blood collection area. Maintain accurate records of specimens collected, tests requested, patient information, and relevant collection details. Coordinate effectively with Medical Officers, nurses, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care and specimen collection. Monitor phlebotomy supplies and ensure adequate availability of needles, collection tubes, gloves, tourniquets, alcohol swabs, and other consumables. Report specimen collection incidents, patient reactions, equipment issues, or other concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable healthcare regulations, ethical standards, and organizational policies. Support health screening, wellness programs, medical examinations, and other healthcare initiatives as required. Stay updated on current phlebotomy techniques, specimen requirements, infection-control practices, and professional standards. Perform other relevant duties assigned by the Medical Director or Head of Medical Services.


Qualifications

Certificate, diploma, or recognized training in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, or another relevant healthcare discipline, with demonstrated competence in venipuncture and clinical specimen collection. Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in phlebotomy, blood collection, or clinical specimen collection. Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and blood specimen collection. Demonstrated ability to perform routine and challenging blood draws safely and effectively. Good knowledge of blood collection procedures, specimen identification, labeling, handling, storage, and transportation. Good understanding of infection prevention and control, standard precautions, and safe clinical practices. Strong attention to detail and commitment to specimen integrity and accuracy. Good patient communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate, professional, and respectful approach to patient care. Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with anxious, uncomfortable, or difficult patients. Good clinical documentation, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively with Medical Officers, nurses, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently within established clinical and laboratory procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a hospital, diagnostic laboratory, corporate clinic, hotel, hospitality, or similar healthcare environment. Certification from a recognized phlebotomy or healthcare professional body. Experience supporting workplace health screenings, pre-employment medical examinations, wellness programs, or routine health assessments. Experience with electronic medical records, laboratory information systems, or healthcare management systems. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is an added advantage. Experience handling a wide range of blood collection tubes and laboratory specimen requirements.

Patients receive safe, professional, efficient, and comfortable blood collection services. Blood specimens are collected accurately with minimal patient discomfort. Patients are correctly identified before every collection. Specimens are correctly labeled, handled, stored, and transported within required timelines. Specimen rejection and recollection rates are minimized through accurate collection and proper handling. Infection prevention, sharps safety, and clinical safety standards are consistently maintained. Patient reactions and complications during blood collection are identified and managed appropriately. Phlebotomy supplies and equipment are adequately maintained and available when required. Patient and specimen records remain accurate, complete, and confidential. Effective communication is maintained with Medical Officers, nurses, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals. Health screening and medical assessment activities are supported efficiently and professionally. Blood collection services consistently meet required standards for patient safety, specimen quality, accuracy, and timely laboratory processing.


Salary
