China Road Engineering and Construction Company Limited (CRECC) appears to refer to a Chinese-linked engineering and construction company operating in Nigeria. We are  recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Procurement Lead

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time Role Summary

The Procurement Lead will manage the end-to-end sourcing and purchasing of cement and urea, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and quality-assured supply to meet distribution commitments.  This role requires strong supplier relationship management, market intelligence on cement pricing and logistics, and close coordination with sales, logistics, and finance teams.


Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Sourcing:

Develop and execute procurement strategies for cement and urea. Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable domestic and international suppliers and manufacturers. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply contracts to optimize cost and secure supply continuity. Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and freight/shipping costs to inform purchasing decisions. Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.


Supplier & Contract Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with cement manufacturers, traders, freight forwarders, and other key suppliers. Manage supplier performance through KPIs covering quality, delivery timelines, and cost competitiveness. Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and supplier contracts. Ensure procurement activities comply with quality standards, import/export regulations, and company policies.


Logistics & Inventory Coordination:

Coordinate with logistics teams on shipment scheduling, customs clearance, and inland transportation. Manage inventory levels in collaboration with logistics teams to prevent stockouts and overstocking. Collaborate with the sales team to forecast demand and align procurement volumes accordingly. Support the preparation and review of shipping and import documentation.

Reporting & Process Improvement;

Prepare procurement reports, supplier performance analyses, and spend summaries. Analyze procurement data to support strategic sourcing decisions. Recommend and implement improvements to procurement systems and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Procurement, or a related field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in procurement, preferably within the cement, construction materials, manufacturing, or bulk commodities sectors. Proven experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and strategic sourcing. Experience with international trade, shipping/freight, and import documentation is highly desirable. Professional procurement certifications (CIPS, ISM, or equivalent) are an added advantage.


Skills & Competencies:

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Good understanding of cement industry dynamics, pricing structures, and quality specifications. Familiarity with Incoterms, Letters of Credit (LCs), and international trade documentation. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple supplier relationships simultaneously. Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

Existing network of cement suppliers, manufacturers, traders, and freight partners. Experience with ERP and procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms. Knowledge of import/export regulations and customs procedures.


Salary
