Procurement Manager - Raw Commodities (FMCG)

Position Overview


We are in search of a highly experienced and motivated Procurement Manager with a robust background in FMCG and extensive expertise in sourcing raw agricultural commodities such as Garri, Ginger, and other staples across Nigeria. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of local sourcing markets, supplier relationship management, and procurement best practices.


Essential Responsibilities


Formulate and implement sourcing strategies for raw agricultural commodities to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Discover, assess, and manage relationships with suppliers, cooperatives, aggregators, and local farmers throughout Nigeria.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and value for money.
Track market trends, price fluctuations, and supply conditions for key commodities.
Perform regular field visits and market assessments to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
Guarantee compliance with procurement policies, food safety standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, production, and finance, to ensure raw material availability and alignment with business needs.
Maintain precise procurement records, contracts, and supplier performance evaluations.
Spearhead procurement planning, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned commodities.


Core Requirements


Bachelor's degree in procurement, business administration, agriculture, or a related field. A relevant master's degree or professional certification is advantageous.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within the FMCG sector, with a strong focus on sourcing agricultural raw materials.
Proven experience in field sourcing and managing procurement operations across Nigeria's regional markets.
In-depth knowledge of commodity pricing, local supplier ecosystems, and agri-supply chain dynamics.
Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to travel extensively across Nigeria for sourcing and supplier engagement.
