Job Summary
The Label Store is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized Procurement Officer to join our growing retail operations team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing goods and services, negotiating with vendors, processing purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring the timely availability of products across our supermarket branches.
This role requires strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to build productive supplier relationships while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and compliance with company procurement policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesSource and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and procurement documentation.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and service agreements with suppliers.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with inventory, warehouse, and branch teams to prevent stock shortages and overstocking.
Track orders from placement through delivery and resolve any supply or logistics issues promptly.
Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, contracts, and pricing schedules.
Conduct periodic supplier performance evaluations and recommend improvements where necessary.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with finance and accounts teams to reconcile invoices, purchase orders, and supplier payments.
Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and purchasing forecasts for management review.
Support cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvement within the procurement function.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Purchasing & Supply, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in a retail supermarket, FMCG, wholesale, or distribution environment.
Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and inventory coordination.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
