Job Title: Programme Associate

The Programme Associate is a Mid-to-Senior role on our team. This colleague spends 30% of their time leading the delivery of ongoing and new research projects or projects testing technological, business, or social innovation. They then spend 40% on people management contributing to a positively energetic team dynamic and shaping the growth of team members, and the rest of their time supporting both reactive and business development efforts to grow our portfolio across sub-Saharan Africa.
Lead project planning and delivery to successful completion and reporting, on-time and on-budget, from start to finish with limited senior management guidance. Lead external engagements with our clients, consortium partners, and diverse stakeholders and collaborators. Lead the hiring and oversee the management of both internal and external human resources. Lead the planning of career progression and oversee the implementation of structured capacity strengthening activities that progress team members along the competency framework of the organisation. Lead the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities through proactive stakeholder engagements, ideation and design of new innovations, or proposal development; and Lead the implementation of quality management systems and strengthen compliance with standard operating procedures, internal processes, and best-practices across our work and in all strategic engagements. Identify partners, consultants, and subject matter experts across Countries in the sub-region to facilitate collaborations and strategic partnerships. Engage with stakeholders in the public health ecosystem to collect network intelligence that supports the design of new innovations and the development of new business opportunities. Lead proposal development including managing overall bid integrity, understanding the needs of the stakeholders, and driving development of relevant and cost-competitive bids; and Lead marketing and outreach efforts, including thought leadership and stakeholder engagement activities.
The ideal Programme Associate will have an advanced degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Statistics, Economics, International Development, or other relevant subject. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience managing high-level stakeholders with 7 years’ relevant experience in public health consulting and project management, Global health, and health-related research in low- and middle-income country settings. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the leading Global Health players relevant to our work, and experience working with government is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated Leadership capability, good interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience leading diverse multi-cultural teams, will be comfortable showing flexibility and adaptability to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities, show attention to detail, and demonstrate resourcefulness. Knowledge of French or Portuguese is an added advantage.
