Project Type: Substation / Distribution Projects Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Electrical/Civil to take overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, coordination, and delivery of substation and electrical distribution projects. The Project Manager will provide leadership across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and project close-out activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved specifications and quality standards.

Take overall ownership of project execution from mobilization through completion and handover. Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, and execution plans. Monitor project progress and ensure timely achievement of key deliverables. Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities. Identify project risks, constraints, and potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation measures. Ensure effective allocation and utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and other project resources.

Oversee electrical and civil works associated with substations and distribution infrastructure. Ensure construction and installation activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and method statements. Review and coordinate electrical and civil engineering drawings and resolve technical discrepancies. Supervise activities including equipment installation, cable laying, earthing, foundations, equipment bases, cable trenches, drainage, fencing, and other associated works. Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspection, and final energization/handover activities.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on project execution matters. Lead project progress meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Provide regular project status reports covering progress, cost, schedule, quality, HSE, and key risks. Maintain strong working relationships with clients and other project stakeholders. Manage project expectations and ensure contractual and technical requirements are met.

Lead and coordinate project engineers, supervisors, site teams, subcontractors, and other project personnel. Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and compliance with project requirements. Coordinate procurement and suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are available when required. Provide direction and support to site teams in resolving technical and operational challenges. Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication across the project.

Cost, Quality & HSE Management:

Monitor project costs and work with relevant teams to maintain the project within approved budget. Identify opportunities to minimize rework, wastage, delays, and unnecessary project expenditure. Ensure implementation of project quality assurance and quality control procedures. Ensure all project activities comply with applicable Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements. Conduct regular site inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Maintain proper project documentation, records, reports, and handover documents.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline (B.Tech/B.Eng.). Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in substation, power distribution, transmission, or electrical infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience in managing or leading multidisciplinary electrical and civil projects. Strong understanding of substation and distribution project execution. Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning activities. Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, quality management, and HSE practices. Ability to read and interpret electrical and civil engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams. Strong client-facing, communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management/scheduling software is an advantage.
