Renewable Energy and Metering Solutions Lead

Position Summary


Turbo Energy is on the lookout for a seasoned and dynamic Project Manager with a robust background in electrical engineering, renewable energy, and metering solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of various energy projects across Nigeria. We seek an individual with extensive technical expertise, a firm grasp of project management methodologies, and a proven track record of delivering results in the power and energy sector.


Primary Responsibilities

Project Oversight:


Spearhead the end-to-end execution of renewable energy and metering projects, including solar installations, smart meter deployments, and energy infrastructure upgrades.
Develop and oversee comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
Track progress, ensure adherence to schedules, and effectively resolve project delays and risks.
Prepare and deliver regular project updates to internal and external stakeholders.


Technical Leadership:


Evaluate technical designs, drawings, and specifications related to renewable energy systems and metering infrastructure.
Coordinate site assessments, feasibility studies, and energy audits as required.
Oversee technical teams and contractors to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld.
Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes.


Stakeholder Engagement:


Interface with government agencies, regulatory bodies, vendors, clients, and project partners to ensure smooth implementation.
Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams for timely delivery of equipment and materials.
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and contracts.


Team Leadership:


Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.
Offer mentorship, technical guidance, and performance monitoring for junior team members.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the project team.


Financial & Contract Management:


Monitor project expenditures and variances, ensuring optimal use of financial resources.
Contribute to bid preparation, BOQs, contract negotiations, and vendor selection.
Ensure projects are delivered within agreed margins and profitability targets.


Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's degree or MBA is advantageous).
5–8 years of project management experience within the energy sector, specifically in renewable energy and metering projects.
Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing EPC projects, metering infrastructure deployments, or hybrid solar systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of NERC regulations, DISCO engagement protocols, and renewable energy standards in Nigeria.


Essential Competencies & Skills:


Exceptional leadership and team coordination abilities.
Thorough understanding of electrical systems, solar PV technology, and metering frameworks (prepaid/postpaid, AMI, etc.).
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and other relevant project tools/software.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.


Work Environment & Travel:


Primary location is Abuja, with frequent travel to project sites across Nigeria.
Field work may involve extended stays in off-grid or rural areas.
