Job Title: Research and Development (R&D) Officer

About the Role

  • Our client seeks a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Officer to serve as a key support within their Research and Development (R&D) Department at the Sango Ota facility.
  • This role is crucial for executing R&D activities, supporting new product development (NPD) and process improvement initiatives, and ensuring strict adherence to both internal and external quality and regulatory standards.
  • The officer will leverage technical expertise to analyze data, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute directly to innovation goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the R&D Coordinator in the meticulous planning and execution of evaluations, trials, and pilot studies related to new product development and process optimization projects.
  • Analyze all data generated from R&D trials, providing accurate and insightful observations to the Coordinator and management to inform critical decision-making processes.
  • Rigorously ensure all R&D activities comply with regulatory standards and internal Quality Assurance (QA) protocols.
  • Support the Coordinator in developing and reviewing departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct essential studies, including shelf-life observations and consumer tests, and accurately document all findings, contributing directly to final report preparation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product Developers, Quality Assurance, and Marketing, to successfully achieve project timelines and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that critical R&D lab instruments (e.g., weighing scales, thermohygrometers) are calibrated according to schedule, and maintain comprehensive records of all calibration activities.
  • Assist in sourcing and preliminary evaluation of ingredients, suppliers, and novel technologies relevant to innovation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the professional documentation of research findings and project reports.
  • Stay consistently updated on industry trends, scientific advancements, and competitor activities to inform the client’s R&D strategies and maintain a competitive edge.

Ideal Qualification & Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in research and development roles, preferably within the food industry.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of food regulations, product formulation, food processing technologies, and food safety/quality assurance protocols.
  • Proficiency in Data Analysis and Project Management, Sensory Evaluation, and Formulation Development.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Interpersonal Skills, Attention to Detail, Problem-Solving, Initiative, and effective Teamwork and Collaboration.
