 Job Title: School Chaplain

Location: Abuja

Job type: Full-time Position Overview

The Chaplain will provide spiritual leadership and pastoral oversight for the Abuja Campus, serving as the spiritual head of both the student body and staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a strong Christian environment in which students and staff are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, develop a sound understanding of Scripture, and live out their faith. The Abuja Campus has approximately 1,900 students and over 200 members of staff, making this a significant spiritual leadership role requiring maturity, discernment, strong leadership, and excellent interpersonal and administrative skills.


Responsibilities

Providing spiritual direction and leadership for the campus. Overseeing the spiritual development and wellbeing of students and staff. Planning and coordinating chapel services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, discipleship initiatives, and other spiritual programmes. Providing pastoral care, biblical counsel, encouragement, and spiritual guidance where appropriate. Working closely with school leadership to ensure that the spiritual life of the campus is consistent with the school’s vision and values. Helping create an environment where Christian faith is not merely taught but lived and demonstrated throughout the school community.

Essential Spiritual Qualifications


The ideal candidate must:

Be a born-again Christian with a genuine and evident personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be deeply knowledgeable and grounded in Scripture, with the ability to teach and communicate biblical truth clearly and accurately. Demonstrate a genuine passion for the salvation and spiritual development of children and young people. Have a strong commitment to prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit. Demonstrate a proven gift of spiritual discernment and the maturity to exercise that discernment wisely and responsibly. Possess strong Christian character, integrity, humility, and emotional and spiritual maturity. Fully embrace and uphold the Christian values, vision, doctrine, and spiritual ethos of the school and ministry. Be willing to continue learning, growing, and developing spiritually alongside the school community. Passion for Students The Chaplain must have a genuine heart for children and young people and be deeply invested in their spiritual wellbeing.


The candidate should:

Have a strong desire to see students genuinely saved, discipled, and established in their faith. Be approachable, compassionate, and able to build meaningful relationships with students. Understand the different spiritual and developmental needs of children and adolescents. Create and support opportunities for students to encounter God, study His Word, pray, worship, and develop a personal relationship with Christ. Be attentive to the spiritual condition of students and able to identify areas where pastoral support or intervention may be required.


Spiritual Leadership of the Campus:

The Chaplain will provide spiritual oversight for the entire campus community, including both students and staff.


Leadership and Administrative Competence:

While the primary calling of the role is spiritual, the Chaplain must also be capable of providing effective leadership and administration.


The ideal candidate should preferably have:

Previous administrative or management experience. Strong organisational and planning skills. The ability to manage programmes, schedules, teams, and initiatives effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, parents, and students. The maturity to handle sensitive pastoral matters with confidentiality, wisdom, and discretion. The ability to lead and develop other members of the spiritual team.

Fully aligned with the vision and values of the school and ministry.


What We Are Ultimately Looking For:

We are looking for more than someone who can conduct chapel services. We are looking for a spiritual leader, shepherd, teacher, mentor, and administrator who has a genuine burden for the spiritual wellbeing of the entire campus community. The ideal Chaplain should have both the calling and character for spiritual leadership, together with the wisdom, discernment, leadership ability, and administrative competence required to oversee the spiritual life of a campus of approximately 1,900 students and over 200 staff members. The candidate should be someone whose life, character, doctrine, and conduct are consistent with the Christian values they will be entrusted to teach and model

Salary Range
