Job Title: Senior Pharmacist
Location: Asaba, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy unit. Review, dispense, and verify prescription medications accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards. Provide expert medication counseling and pharmaceutical care to patients. Monitor drug therapies for effectiveness, interactions, contraindications, and adverse effects. Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient treatment outcomes. Oversee procurement, inventory control, and stock management of pharmaceutical and medical supplies. Ensure compliance with all Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) regulations and ethical standards. Develop and implement pharmacy policies, protocols, and quality assurance measures. Mentor, train, and supervise junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Participate in clinical ward rounds and contribute to medication management decisions. Maintain proper documentation of prescriptions, controlled substances, and patient medication records. Ensure the pharmacy environment remains organized, safe, and efficient. Report directly to the Superintendent Pharmacist and hospital management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution. Must possess a valid license and current practicing certificate from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN). Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy practice. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical care, drug interactions, and medication safety. Sound knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. High level of emotional intelligence and professionalism. Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills. Proficiency in computer applications and pharmacy management systems. Excellent customer care and public relations skills. Articulate, cordial, hospitable, and patient-centered personality.
