We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Volunteer Proofreader
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Volunteer
Hours: Flexible, approximately 10 hours per week
Reporting to: Social Media Team Leader
The Role
As our Volunteer Proofreader, you will review social media scripts, captions and other digital content before publication.
You will work closely with our Scriptwriter, Social Media Content Strategist and Video & Publishing Officer, under the direction of the Social Media Team Leader, to maintain a consistent and professional standard across IIR’s communications.
Key ResponsibilitiesProofread scripts, captions and social media copy before publication.
Review content for spelling, grammar, punctuation and clarity.
Improve sentence structure and readability where necessary without changing the intended meaning.
Check content for consistency in tone, terminology and organisational voice.
Identify errors, inconsistencies or unclear wording and suggest appropriate corrections.
Review final copy before it is passed to the Video & Publishing Officer for publication.
Work collaboratively with the Scriptwriter and Content Strategist to improve content quality.
Help maintain consistent editorial standards across IIR’s social media communications.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from graduates and early-career professionals with a minimum of one year’s relevant experience.
You should have:Excellent written English, grammar and spelling.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong proofreading and editing skills.
An ability to improve clarity while preserving the writer’s intended meaning and voice.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and meet agreed deadlines.
An interest in social justice, access to justice or nonprofit communications.
