Job Title: Assistant Head Teacher

Job Summary

• We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Head Teacher to join our vibrant and inclusive Nursery/Primary School.
• This pivotal leadership role will support the Head Teacher in driving high standards of teaching, learning, and pastoral care across the school, with a particular focus on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:

• Assist the Head Teacher in formulating and implementing the school’s vision, values, and strategic direction.
• Lead on key school improvement priorities, particularly in EYFS.
• Contribute to the development of school policies and procedures to ensure a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment.

Early Years Leadership (Nursery Focus):

• Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of the Early Years curriculum in line with the EYFS framework.
• Monitor teaching and learning in the Nursery and Reception classes to ensure high-quality provision.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for EYFS staff.
• Promote a child-centred, play-based approach that supports all areas of child development.

Teaching and Learning:

• Model outstanding teaching and learning, with regular teaching commitment, particularly within EYFS.
• Lead on curriculum development and ensure progression from EYFS into Key Stage 1.
• Use data and assessment effectively to monitor pupil progress and identify interventions.
• Support inclusive practices that cater to the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils.

Staff Development and Line Management:

• Line manage EYFS staff and contribute to performance management across the school.
• Support staff CPD and contribute to whole-school INSET and training sessions.
• Build a strong team ethos that supports collaboration, innovation, and high expectations.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing:

• Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy, ensuring all safeguarding policies and practices are robustly implemented.
• Promote the welfare and wellbeing of all children, ensuring early identification and intervention for any concerns.
• Work closely with families, external agencies, and support services to provide holistic care for children.

School Operations and Wider Duties:

• Deputise for the Head Teacher as required.
• Contribute to the organisation of whole-school events, transitions, and parental engagement.
• Promote a positive, welcoming school culture that reflects the values of inclusion, respect, and aspiration.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a BSc Degree with 3 - 7 years work experience.
