Job Description

• The role of a Chinese translator involves facilitating communication between Chinese and other languages, typically English, though it can involve other languages as well. This can encompass both written and spoken forms of communication.

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate documents, including: Business contracts and legal documents.
• Technical manuals and specifications.
• Marketing and advertising materials.
• Website content and localization.
• Academic papers and research.
• Ensure translated materials maintain the original meaning, tone, and context.
• Proofread and edit translations for accuracy and clarity.
• Provide accurate and real-time interpretation during:
• Business meetings and negotiations.
• Conferences and seminars.
• Legal proceedings and court hearings.
• Medical consultations.
• Offer simultaneous or consecutive interpretation, depending on the situation.
• Bridge cultural gaps and ensure culturally sensitive communication.
• Provide insights into Chinese cultural nuances and customs.
• Adapt translations to suit the target audience's cultural background.
• Research and maintain accurate terminology databases.
• Develop and update glossaries for specific industries or clients.
• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and requirements.
• Provide clear and timely updates on translation projects.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with at least 4 years work experience.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and the target language.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent understanding of cultural differences.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.

Salary
N500,000 - N1,000,000 / month.
