Computer Engineer / Computer Science Lecturer

Position Overview


Our client is urgently seeking a lecturer in Computer Science or Computer Engineering who possesses a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with at least 3 years of teaching experience. The ideal candidate should reside in Lagos or any area in close proximity to Ogba or Berger, Lagos.


Key Duties

The primary responsibilities for this position include:


Instruct introductory computer technology and data management applications courses to underclassmen as part of the Institution's general education core curriculum
Collaborate with other department faculty members in offering advanced computer science courses to students pursuing Diplomas in fields related to computer and information technology
Guide and mentor individual applied technology and computer science majors as they progress through each department's undergraduate programs
Support department staff in managing and maintaining the Institution's main computer lab, working rotating shifts to ensure it remains accessible for students during both day and evening hours
Liaise with faculty and external personnel to discuss research opportunities, and represent the department in requesting funding from the Institution's finance department
Create curriculum to be utilized by department staff and to be published and shared with other academic institutions
Cooperate with the department chair and the Institution's admissions department annually to arrange class schedules for each academic semester
Hold regular office hours during the academic semester to be available for individual student meetings when necessary
Design and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught
Ensure that the classroom environment is stimulating and conducive to learning
Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their full potential
Coordinate with the Head of Department and learning support where a student may have special educational needs, and with the form tutor and Head of House if a student is experiencing pastoral difficulties
Foster high standards of behavior by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to study and build productive relationships with students
Assign homework according to policy and relevant to the student's ability and wider workload
Promote high standards of organization
Demonstrate punctuality for lessons
Encourage high standards in the use of English as the common language and help develop English for academic progress
Provide high-quality, accurate, constructive, and targeted information to parents at Parents' Evenings, in subject reports, incidental meetings, and communications
Assess, record, and monitor the progress of all students according to faculty guidelines to provide accurate information to parents in various forms, as and when necessary.


Qualifications


Interested candidates should possess an HND / BSc Degree with 3 - 5 years of work experience.
