Geography Teacher Opportunity

Responsibilities


Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in Geography according to the approved curriculum (British, Nigerian, or integrated as applicable).
Teach students about physical and human geography, environmental issues, map reading, fieldwork techniques, and current global issues.
Develop lesson notes, schemes of work, and teaching aids to enhance learning.
Assess, record, and report on students’ progress through tests, assignments, projects, and examinations.
Organize and supervise field trips, excursions, and practical activities to support classroom learning.
Encourage critical thinking, research skills, and problem-solving in relation to geographical issues.
Integrate the use of ICT and multimedia resources in lessons.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to students both academically and personally.
Maintain discipline in line with the school’s rules and regulations.
Collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular learning.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development programs.
Contribute to extracurricular activities, clubs, or student projects related to Geography and environmental awareness.


Qualifications & Requirements


Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field (PGDE is an added advantage).
Proven experience teaching Geography at primary/secondary school level.
Strong knowledge of both physical and human geography concepts.
Ability to use modern teaching tools and technology (e.g., Google Earth, GIS basics, multimedia).
Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
Passion for teaching and inspiring young learners.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
