Job Title: Guidance Counsellor & Safeguarding Lead
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counselling services to students.
Support students with academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and career-related concerns.
Develop and implement student wellness, mental health, and personal development programs.
Assist students in making informed educational and career choices.
Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success.
Maintain confidential student records and counselling documentation.
Organize workshops and awareness programs on topics such as emotional well-being, resilience, study skills, and responsible decision-making.
Safeguarding and Child Protection:Serve as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Lead the implementation and monitoring of the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding regulations and best practices.
Receive, document, and manage safeguarding concerns and referrals appropriately.
Coordinate investigations and interventions in collaboration with relevant authorities where necessary.
Deliver safeguarding training and awareness programs for staff, students, and parents.
Maintain accurate safeguarding records and ensure confidentiality.
Promote a culture of safety, respect, and student well-being throughout the school community.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
Master’s degree in Counselling, Educational Psychology, Child Development, or a related discipline is an advantage.
3–5 years of relevant experience in counselling, student welfare, safeguarding, or child protection.
Strong understanding of child development, mental health, and safeguarding practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to work with students, parents, staff, and external agencies effectively.
High level of integrity, professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
Certification or training in Child Protection, Safeguarding, Mental Health, or related areas is an added advantage.
