 Job Title: Head, Information Technology

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time Job Description

The Head, Information Technology is to lead the Bank's technology strategy, digital transformation initiatives, and enterprise-wide technology operations. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across Information Technology, Software Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Digital Banking Platforms, Core Banking Systems, IT Governance, and Enterprise Architecture. This role is responsible for ensuring that the Bank's technology environment remains secure, scalable, highly available, and fully compliant with regulatory requirements while enabling business growth and delivering exceptional customer experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership experience within banking, fintech, or other highly regulated industries and demonstrate the ability to manage technology teams responsible for infrastructure, software development, cloud operations, cybersecurity, and digital innovation.


Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Digital Transformation:

Develop and execute the Bank's enterprise technology strategy aligned with corporate objectives. Drive digital transformation initiatives that improve customer experience and operational efficiency. Develop long-term technology roadmaps supporting business growth and innovation. Advise Executive Management on strategic technology investments and modernization initiatives.

Software Engineering, DevOps & Technology Delivery:

Provide strategic oversight for software engineering and application development teams. Lead DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, and automated deployments. Establish software development governance, coding standards, and release management processes. Oversee application lifecycle management from design through deployment and production support. Promote Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps methodologies across technology teams. Ensure high software quality through automation, testing, and continuous integration practices.


Core Banking & Enterprise Applications:

Oversee the administration, optimization, and performance of the Bank's Core Banking Application and related platforms. Ensure seamless integration between internal systems and external service providers including NIBSS, payment gateways, card processors, and third-party APIs. Manage enterprise applications including CRM, ERP, HRMS, document management systems, and productivity platforms. Support implementation of new banking products and digital services.

Infrastructure, Cloud & Network Management:

Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise infrastructure including cloud environments, servers, storage, virtualization, and networking. Ensure high availability, scalability, redundancy, and performance across technology platforms. Manage cloud services on Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform. Oversee endpoint management, enterprise networking, VPNs, firewalls, and identity management solutions.


Cyber security & Information Security:

Develop and implement enterprise cyber security strategies that protect the Bank's digital assets. Lead vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, threat intelligence, and incident response activities. Ensure compliance with cyber security regulations issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NDPA, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001 standards. Manage Security Operations, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP). Develop Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans and conduct periodic testing.


Digital Banking & Payment Technology:

Provide strategic oversight for Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, Agency Banking, POS, USSD, and payment platforms. Ensure high availability and continuous improvement of customer-facing digital channels. Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Business teams to deliver innovative banking solutions. Support Open Banking initiatives and API integrations.

IT Governance, Risk & Compliance:

Develop and maintain enterprise IT governance frameworks. Ensure compliance with CBN Guidelines, NDPA, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and other applicable regulations. Lead technology risk assessments and remediation initiatives. Coordinate IT audits and regulatory examinations. Maintain enterprise technology policies, standards, and procedures.


IT Service Management:

Lead IT operations, helpdesk services, incident management, problem management, and change management. Establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Improve IT service delivery using ITIL best practices.


Leadership & People Management:

Build and lead high-performing technology teams. Mentor Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Database Administrators, Cyber security Analysts, QA Engineers, and IT Support personnel. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Drive succession planning and capability development within the Technology function.


Vendor & Financial Management:

Develop and manage the annual Technology budget. Negotiate technology contracts and manage strategic technology vendors. Optimize technology expenditure while ensuring operational excellence. Evaluate and procure enterprise technology solutions aligned with business needs.


Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field is an added advantage.


Experience:

Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in Information Technology. At least 5 years in a senior leadership position within Banking, Fintech, Financial Services, or another highly regulated industry. Proven experience managing enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, cyber security, software engineering, DevOps, and digital banking technologies. Hands-on experience with Core Banking Systems, enterprise integrations, APIs, cloud technologies, and payment ecosystems. Demonstrated experience leading enterprise technology transformation initiatives.

Professional Certifications (Preferred):

ITIL Foundation or ITIL Expert PMP or PRINCE2 CISSP CISM COBIT TOGAF AWS Solutions Architect Microsoft Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect Google Professional Cloud Architect Kubernetes (CKA) Docker CCNA / CCNP MCSE Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
