History Education Specialist

Job Summary


Broadoaks British School is seeking a passionate and experienced History Teacher to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons in line with the British National Curriculum. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore global and local historical events critically, develop analytical thinking, and make connections between the past and present. TRCN certification is required.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum Delivery


Deliver high-quality History lessons to students in Key Stages 3–5.
Plan, prepare, and assess lessons that align with the British curriculum.
Foster inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and historical investigation skills.
Use diverse teaching strategies to meet varied learning styles and abilities.


Assessment & Reporting


Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate records of progress.
Prepare student reports and contribute to parent-teacher conferences.


Learning Environment


Create a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
Encourage debate, curiosity, and independent thought about historical events and themes.
Incorporate a global and multicultural perspective in historical teaching.


Professional Collaboration


Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and review schemes of work.
Participate in departmental planning, school events, and academic competitions.
Engage in ongoing professional development and training.

Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or related discipline.
A postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or PGDE).
TRCN certification is required for teaching in Nigeria.
At least 3 years’ experience teaching History in a British or international school setting.
Experience preparing students for IGCSE
