IBD Associate

This role offers a comprehensive view of the Investment Banking Division (IBD) with a focus on West Africa. It provides an opportunity to work across all product areas within IBD based on a staffing model, while assisting in the development and implementation of the IBD strategy.

Duties:


The ideal candidate will function as an associate, executing financial advisory/corporate finance transactions as well as leverage finance, infrastructure finance, and corporate lending deals.
The associate will be tasked with initiating client pitches, constructing financial models (for valuation and debt capacity), and composing credit memos/papers.
The associate will support the lead transactor in facility documentation and ensure successful execution of administrative processes to achieve financial close on transactions.
The associate will be responsible for managing and distributing workload to analysts within the team and partially responsible for enhancing the analysts' skills.
The associate will coordinate the creation of reports and presentations, including research and analysis of African economies, market trends, and business opportunities, which they will compile and distribute to relevant stakeholders across the Business.


Qualifications and Experience:


Candidates should possess a relevant graduate degree and at least 4 years of work experience in investment banking, accounting, or related fields, and be interested in working in a small-team environment with significant client interaction.
Successful completion of Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") program would be beneficial.
Proficiency in Excel financial modeling, including detailed income statement forecasting and scenario analysis, capital structure modeling, and Merger modeling.
Candidates should be motivated to handle multiple tasks, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, have strong attention to detail, interact well, and thrive in a team setting.
Strong leadership qualities and communication skills are essential, as is well-developed business acumen.
Conceptual thinking paired with strong analytical abilities.
Report writing skills are crucial.
Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills are required.
