Mathematics Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our team at a leading secondary school in Maiduguri. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality mathematics instruction to students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and preparing students for both internal and external examinations. This role requires a passionate educator with a strong understanding of the Nigerian secondary school curriculum and a commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:


Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective mathematics lessons for students in various secondary school grades.
Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with the national educational standards and school requirements.
Assess and evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and continuous assessments, providing constructive feedback.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and a love for learning mathematics.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Prepare students for key examinations, including but not limited to BECE, NECO, and WAEC.
Participate in departmental meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide events.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and grades.
Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and parents to support student development.
Serve as a mentor to students and contribute to the overall pastoral care of the school community.


Qualifications and Experience:


Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of post-NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) teaching experience in a reputable secondary school.
Proven track record of preparing students for public examinations (e.g., WAEC, NECO).
Strong knowledge of the Nigerian secondary school mathematics curriculum.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in the academic and personal growth of students.
Ability to use modern teaching aids and technology to enhance learning.
Residency or willingness to relocate to Maiduguri, Borno State.
