Role Description
The Mechanical Engineer will work on-site in Lagos in a full-time capacity, supporting the design, implementation, and optimization of mechanical systems for building and MEP projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing mechanical designs and drawings, performing calculations and sizing for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
The role involves close coordination with electrical, civil, and architectural teams, participating in site inspections, and addressing technical issues during installation, testing, and commissioning.
The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to project planning, monitor progress against schedules and budgets, and support documentation for handover and maintenance.
The role also includes evaluating new technologies and methods to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and overall project quality.
QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with applied knowledge in building services and MEP environments.
Proficiency in Machine Design and mechanical systems analysis for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection applications.
Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) for preparing and reviewing detailed mechanical drawings.
Demonstrated Project Management skills, including planning, scheduling, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and progress tracking.
Experience in Research and Development (R&D), including evaluating new materials, technologies, and engineering solutions to enhance system performance.
Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and international standards for MEP systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to work on-site in Lagos, collaborate effectively with diverse teams, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Professional certification or membership in an engineering body is an advantage.
