 Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist - Haematologist

Location: Benin City, Edo

Employment Type: Full-time Description

We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform laboratory investigations, ensure accurate and timely reporting of results, maintain quality standards, and support clinicians in delivering excellent patient care.


Key Responsibilities

Perform laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and protocols. Collect, process, analyze, and report laboratory specimens accurately and promptly. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures. Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation. Adhere to infection prevention and control measures as well as laboratory safety standards. Monitor laboratory inventory and request replenishment of reagents and consumables. Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes. Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate healthcare providers. Ensure compliance with Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) regulations and hospital policies. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Laboratory.


Requirements
Education:

Bachelor's Degree (B.MLS/BMLS) in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution. Current practicing licence issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.


Experience:

1–3 years post-NYSC experience in a reputable hospital or diagnostic laboratory. Experience in one or more laboratory disciplines (Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Microbiology, Histopathology, Blood Transfusion, or Molecular Diagnostics) is an added advantage.


Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality management systems. Ability to operate modern laboratory equipment. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is an added advantage.


Other Requirements:

Valid MLSCN practising licence. Strong commitment to ethical and professional practice. Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required. Excellent customer service orientation. Candidate must be proactive, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the job location.
