Job Title: Optometrist

Location: Benin City, Edo 

Employment Type: Full-time Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and patient-focused Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of common eye conditions.


Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments. Diagnose and manage refractive errors and common ocular conditions. Prescribe spectacles, contact lenses, and other appropriate visual aids. Perform appropriate clinical tests and interpret results. Identify eye conditions requiring referral to an ophthalmologist or other specialists. Provide patient education on eye health, hygiene, and preventive care. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Ensure compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and professional guidelines. Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals. Participate in health promotion and community eye-care initiatives when required.


Requirements
Education:

Bachelor of Optometry (OD) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. Must be registered with the relevant professional regulatory body in Nigeria.


Experience:

1–2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred. Experience in a hospital, eye clinic, or healthcare setting will be an added advantage. Fresh graduates with strong clinical competence may also be considered.


Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid practising licence. Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and commitment to quality patient care. Must be willing to work according to the hospital's schedule and operational requirements. Applicants must be resident in or willing to relocate to Benin City, Edo State. Must be available to resume within the required timeframe.


Skills & Competencies:

Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good patient-care and counselling skills. Attention to detail and sound clinical judgment. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in using optometric equipment and relevant clinical software. Good organisational and time-management skills.
