Job Title: Primary 5 Class Teacher
Location: Benin City, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and managing a Primary 5 class, delivering engaging lessons aligned with the school curriculum, monitoring pupils' academic and personal development, and creating a positive classroom environment that encourages learning, discipline, confidence, and creativity.
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for Primary 5 pupils. Teach core subjects in accordance with the approved school curriculum. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, tests, and examinations. Assess pupils' academic progress and provide appropriate feedback and support. Identify pupils who require additional academic assistance and implement suitable interventions. Maintain effective classroom management and promote good behaviour and discipline. Keep accurate records of attendance, assessments, grades, and pupils' progress. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding pupils' academic and behavioural development. Participate actively in staff meetings, training, school events, excursions, and extracurricular activities. Support pupils' social, emotional, moral, and personal development. Maintain a clean, organised, safe, and stimulating classroom environment. Work collaboratively with other teachers, school administrators, and support staff. Perform other teaching and administrative duties assigned by the school management.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of NCE, B.Ed., B.Sc./B.A. ,OND, HNDor an equivalent recognised qualification in Education or a related field. Previous teaching experience, preferably at the primary school level. Strong knowledge of primary school teaching methods and curriculum delivery. Excellent classroom management skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use creative and child-centred teaching approaches. Basic computer literacy and ability to use digital teaching resources. Strong interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Passion for teaching and genuine interest in children's learning and development.
Patient, caring, approachable, and professional. Responsible, punctual, and dependable. Creative and innovative in lesson delivery. Able to motivate and inspire pupils. Adaptable and willing to learn. Committed to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children. A positive team player with a strong work ethic.
