Job Title: Solar Design Engineer
Location: Lagos (Office & Project Sites)
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Field Operations
Reports To: CTO
Working Conditions: Predominantly office-based with some travel to customer facilities, industrial sites, commercial buildings, and remote project locations.
Job Purpose
The Solar Design Engineer (SDE) is responsible for creating complete design packages for commercial and SMB solar energy systems.
The role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are technically viable, commercially feasible, and aligned with customer energy requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesSolar System Design & Documentation:Determine optimal system capacity and equipment configuration based on customer load profiles.
Integrate generator and grid connections with solar and battery equipment.
Develop single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, solar panel layouts, bill of quantities, and other technical documents.
Clearly package design work for use by installation teams.
Collaborate with installation teams to ensure designs are followed during installation.
Site Assessments:Conduct technical inspections of customer facilities.
Evaluate roof structures, available land, electrical infrastructure, and environmental conditions.
Measure installation areas using appropriate surveying tools.
Assess shading, orientation, and structural integrity.
Prepare detailed site assessment reports.
Compliance:Ensure designs comply with relevant technical standards and building codes

RequirementsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related discipline.
COREN registration is an advantage.
Experience:Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with solar system installation. Experience on systems larger than 100kWp preferred
Minimum 2 years of experience with solar system design tools such as CAD, Helioscope, OpenSolar, or other similar design software
Experience designing systems larger than 50kWp.
