University Librarian

The Job


The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and Head of the University's Library and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extensions in providing services for the entire University Community


Requirements

Qualifications


Prospective candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Library Science with a NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence.
English Landes must have SSCE / NECO / WASSC / GCE O'Level credit in five (5) subjects, including Mathematics and must be a member of the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria(LRCN) as well as the Nigeria Library Association (NLA). 
He/She must be a Deputy University Librarian, or its equivalent and should have a minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience in the University System with evidence of scholarly publications related to Library/information Science in reputable journals and books.
Applicants must be ICT compliant and should not be more than 60 years old on assumption of duty.


Tenure:


The appointment shall be for a single tenure of five(05) years, effective from the date of appointment.


Conditions Of Service


The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of University Librarian of Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the University Governing Council. Some of the conditions of service are stipulated in the Regulations.
