Job Title: Group Head, Corporate Banking (V Bank)

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Group Head, Corporate Business Segment will lead and grow the Corporate Banking business of a digital-first microfinance bank, focused on customer onboarding, partnerships and ecosystems.
  • The role is accountable for driving deposit mobilization, payments, transactions, and lending solutions by leveraging technology, Banking-as a-Service (BaaS), and strategic collaborations that deliver value to both the bank and its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the corporate banking strategy aligned with the bank’s vision as a digital-first national MFB with Pan Africa aspirations.
  • Lead onboarding and retention of corporate and institutional customers across ecosystems, partnerships, and value chains.
  • Champion Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) solutions to embed financial services into partner platforms and unlock new revenue streams.
  • Drive deposit mobilization, payments, transaction banking, and lending products that meet customer needs and enhance customer experience.
  • Foster strong partnerships with fintechs, aggregators, MSMEs, corporates, and development institutions to expand market reach.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and digital tools to enhance customer acquisition,usage, and retention strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while innovating within approved frameworks.
  • Collaborate with product, technology, and risk teams to design customer-centric solutions that deliver sustainable growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the Corporate Banking Group to achieve strategic and financial targets.
  • Build and lead a results-driven team to develop and execute strategies aimed at achieving corporate banking targets, including N100B in deposits and N150B in loan disbursements annually for the next 5years.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, ensuring at least 100K corporate customers are onboarded annually.
  • Drive adoption of multiple banking products by ensuring 100% of corporate clients use at least two VBank products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics or related field; MBA or professional certification (e.g., CFA, ACCA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 10–12 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate financial services, credit analysis, and risk management.
  • Excellent relationship management, business development, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of fintech ecosystems and emerging banking models.
