One Acre, founded in 2006, supplies smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms more productive. We provide quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural trainings to improve harvests. We measure our success by our ability to make farmers more prosperous: On average, farmers harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund. We serve more than 800,000 farm families in Eastern and Southern Africa, with more than 7,500 full-time staff, and we aim to serve 1 million farm families by 2020. We are  recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Nigeria Tech Specialist (Fixed-term)

Location: Minna, Niger About the Role

The Tech Specialist will own the end-to-end technical delivery of our field and internal solutions. You will use approved AI coding tools and development agents to accelerate architecture, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.


Responsibilities

Product & Software Development — 40%:

Design, build, and maintain mobile, web, backend, and data solutions. Develop reliable digital workflows that support both online and offline use. Build scalable, maintainable features that support operational and business requirements. Integrate systems, data, and services to deliver a seamless user experience.

Architecture & Data — 20%:

Integrate systems, data, and services to deliver a seamless user experience. Contribute to the technical architecture and ongoing evolution of the platform. Design secure and scalable data models, APIs, and integration patterns. Ensure reliable data synchronization, validation, and consistency across systems.

Engineering Productivity & AI — 10%:

Support the platform’s growth from early-stage deployment to large-scale operations. Use modern development tools, including approved AI-assisted engineering tools, to improve delivery speed and quality. Apply strong engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and maintainability. Review and validate all code and technical outputs before production release.

Security, Quality & Reliability — 20%:

Follow secure software development and data-protection practices. Implement appropriate access controls, auditability, monitoring, and operational safeguards. Develop and maintain automated testing and deployment processes. Support reliable releases, system performance, issue resolution, backup, and recovery.

Collaboration & Delivery — 10%:

Translate product and business requirements into practical technical solutions. Collaborate with product, design, operations, and other stakeholders throughout delivery. Support testing, pilots, production launches, and continuous improvement. Maintain clear technical documentation and support effective knowledge transfer.


Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience. At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience and 3 years of experience delivering production full-stack applications. Advanced full-stack engineering across mobile, web, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure. Strong experience with Flutter, React Native, Kotlin, or another Android-capable framework. Strong experience with React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, or a comparable web framework. Strong backend experience using TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Java, C#/.NET, Go, or a comparable production stack. Experience with cloud deployment, containers, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, backups, recovery, and infrastructure automation. Ability to implement automated unit, integration, API, mobile, and end-to-end tests. Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools safely and productively. Strong technical documentation and knowledge-transfer capabilities.
