Job Title: Transport / Logistics Vehicle Inspection Assistant Officer

Job Summary

  • The Transport/Logistics Vehicle Inspection Assistant (Officer) is responsible for supporting the transport and logistics unit by conducting routine inspections, ensuring the roadworthiness, safety, and compliance of all company vehicles.
  • The role involves monitoring vehicle conditions, assisting in maintenance scheduling, and ensuring that all transport operations meet regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and periodic inspections of company vehicles to ensure they are in safe and operational condition.
  • Verify that vehicles comply with road safety regulations, company policies, and government transportation standards.
  • Inspect vehicle components including tyres, lights, brakes, engine oil, fluid levels, and safety equipment.
  • Report any faults, defects, or non-compliance issues to the Transport Supervisor or Fleet Manager promptly.
  • Assist in coordinating vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repairs with approved service providers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection records, reports, and checklists.
  • Monitor vehicle cleanliness, documentation (e.g., insurance, roadworthiness certificates), and ensure renewal schedules are followed.
  • Support the logistics team in dispatching and receiving vehicles, ensuring proper documentation and readiness for trips.
  • Assist in investigating vehicle incidents or breakdowns and provide reports on findings.
  • Ensure drivers comply with safety regulations, conduct pre-trip checks, and adhere to company transport policies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • OND / HND / B.Sc. in Transport Management, Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in vehicle inspection, fleet management, or logistics operations.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle systems, mechanical components, and safety standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential mechanical issues.
  • Good record-keeping, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with drivers, mechanics, and transport personnel.
  • Familiarity with transport regulations and road safety laws.
