Anti-Fraud Officer

We are seeking a seasoned Anti-Fraud Officer who is enthusiastic about our mission to promote financial inclusion in Africa. The ideal candidate will be tasked with managing and reconciling vendor and customer disputes. This role may also involve resolving merchant disputes related to previous transactions and analyzing instances of chargeback fraud.



Responsibilities of the Anti-Fraud Officer:


Examine customer wallets for suspicious activities.
Record and log all instances of fraudulent banking and lending activities, erroneous transfers, business-related issues, and other fraud cases in the complaint register. Ensure all required fields in the register are properly completed.
Investigate and resolve reported irregular transactions.
Employ various data analysis and accounting tools to gather, organize, and examine financial data to uncover inconsistencies and potential suspects.
Interview relevant parties to obtain information useful in solving financial crimes.
Recognize areas of the business that require enhanced security measures to safeguard the company and its users from future fraud incidents.
Maintain detailed records of suspicious activities, analyze patterns, inform management of security threats, and provide recommendations for loss mitigation as needed.
Address fraud inquiries across multiple channels.
Coordinate with internal teams, merchants, banks, transaction processors, regulatory bodies, law enforcement, and any involved third parties.
Restrict reported wallets from other banks.
Escalate fraudulent transactions from our customers' wallets to the beneficiary banks.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.


Requirements for the Anti-Fraud Officer:


Bachelor's degree in any field.
2-3 years of experience in Anti-Fraud or a related field.
Comprehensive knowledge of fraud detection management, identity theft, and information and security management.
Must possess in-depth understanding of Fraud Management (Identity theft & Information & Security Management).
Problem-solving skills and results-oriented mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant work tools.
