 Job Title: Loan Collection Officer

Location: Ogba-Aguda, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary

A Loan Collection Officer is responsible for managing overdue loan accounts, contacting borrowers to recover outstanding payments, negotiating repayment arrangements, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. The role focuses on minimizing delinquency and reducing financial losses while maintaining professional customer relationships.


Key Responsibilities

Contact customers with overdue loan accounts through phone calls, or other approved communication channels. Remind borrowers of outstanding balances and payment due dates. Negotiate repayment plans and settlement arrangements where appropriate. Monitor delinquent accounts and follow up on payment commitments. Investigate reasons for non-payment and recommend suitable recovery actions. Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer interactions. Ensure compliance with collection policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards. Escalate high-risk or severely delinquent accounts to supervisors or legal teams when necessary. Prepare collection reports and account status updates. Work closely with customer service, credit, and legal departments to resolve account issues.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Amount of debt recovered. Collection rate and recovery percentage. Number of accounts resolved. Promise-to-pay fulfillment rate. Reduction in delinquency levels. Compliance with collection procedures and regulations.


Requirements
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma, Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Previous experience in collections, credit control, customer service, banking, microfinance, or financial services is preferred.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally and tactfully. Knowledge of debt collection procedures and loan recovery processes. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping. Ability to work under pressure and meet recovery targets.


Working Conditions:

Office-based environment. Frequent telephone communication with customers. May involve meeting monthly recovery and performance targets. Requires professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to financial regulations.


Salary
