Job Title: Machinist
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Contract Responsibilities
Operate and maintain machining tools to produce high-precision parts and components. Take precise measurements and follow detailed specifications to ensure quality and accuracy. Support production goals by manufacturing components efficiently and safely. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand machining requirements. Take precise measurements using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy. Set up and operate machinery, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment. Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain precision and quality throughout the machining process. Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance. Inspect finished components to verify they meet specifications and quality standards. Identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery or processes, reporting any malfunctions to supervisors. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and operational guidelines. Record and report production data, including time, materials used, and completed work. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve machining processes and resolve technical challenges.
General Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining or a related field is preferred. 2-4 years of experience as a machinist or in a similar role. Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machines. Strong understanding of machining techniques, tools, and materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in manufacturing environments. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle heavy materials when required.
