Job Title: Tax Officer
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time Summary
We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and proactive Tax Officer to join our Finance & Accounts team and support the company’s tax compliance, reporting, and advisory functions.
Prepare and file accurate tax returns and statutory submissions within prescribed deadlines. Ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and guidelines issued by the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and other relevant regulatory authorities. Prepare and reconcile VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, Companies Income Tax (CIT) and other applicable tax obligations. Maintain proper records of tax computations, payments, receipts, certificates, and supporting documentation. Monitor tax assessments, liabilities, payments, and outstanding obligations. Assist with tax audits, investigations, desk reviews, and correspondence with relevant tax authorities. Review transactions and accounting records to identify potential tax implications and compliance issues. Support the preparation of tax schedules and reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Monitor changes in Nigerian tax legislation and advise management on their potential impact on the business. Assist in responding to tax queries and resolving tax-related issues. Ensure proper documentation and retention of tax records in accordance with applicable requirements. Work closely with the Finance & Accounts team to ensure accurate tax treatment of business transactions. Perform other tax and accounting duties as may be assigned by management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. 2–3 years’ relevant experience in taxation, accounting, audit, or a related field. Good knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance requirements. Practical knowledge of VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT and other relevant taxes. Strong analytical, numerical, and reconciliation skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet statutory deadlines. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Possession of or progress towards professional qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, CITN, or other relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage.
