The State-Based Program Officer (SBPO) leads Extension Africa's donor-funded development work in Nasarawa State turning work plans into field activity, training farmers and extension agents, driving adoption of climate-smart and digital extension practices, and maintaining data quality and reporting against the project's results framework. The role also links development to commerce: the SBPO builds and certifies the last-mile rural structure (FBAs, farmers, and vendors) for verified handover to the Commercial Arm's State Sales Team via the Agent Processing Centre (APC). Residency within Nasarawa State is compulsory.
B.Sc. / HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop/Soil Science, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a related field. 3–5 years of progressive experience in agricultural or rural development projects (NGO/donor-funded preferred). Hands-on experience with climate-smart agriculture and ICT4Ag tools Direct work with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and government structures at state/LGA level Experience with digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboCollect, MS Excel) Experience recruiting or managing community-level agents or field networks is an advantage Fluency in English and the predominant local language of Nasarawa State Must be resident in or willing to relocate to Nasarawa State.
