Job Title: Unmanned Aerial Systems (Drone) Technician
Location: Nigeria Position Summary
The successful candidate will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test, and provide technical support for the company's Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and associated equipment. The Drone Technician will work closely with Drone Pilots, aviation personnel, and operational teams to ensure that all UAS platforms are maintained in a safe, reliable, serviceable, and mission-ready condition.
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on UAV/Drone systems in accordance with approved maintenance procedures. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test UAS airframes, propulsion systems, electrical systems, avionics, sensors, communication systems, and associated components. Perform pre-flight and post-flight technical inspections to confirm the serviceability and airworthiness of UAV systems. Diagnose technical faults and carry out appropriate corrective maintenance. Install and troubleshoot ground control stations, communication links, antennas, payloads, batteries, chargers, and related support equipment. Conduct installation, replacement, calibration, and functional testing of UAV components and systems. Provide technical support to Drone Pilots and operational teams during surveillance, reconnaissance, monitoring, and other approved missions. Monitor the condition and performance of UAV batteries and other critical components. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, defect reports, component records, technical documentation, and equipment service histories. Ensure that maintenance activities comply with applicable aviation regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company safety procedures. Manage UAV spare parts, tools, test equipment, and maintenance inventory. Immediately report technical defects or safety concerns that may affect the safe operation of any UAV. Assist with technical evaluation, acceptance testing, and commissioning of new UAV platforms and equipment. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company equipment, technical capabilities, security operations, and mission-related information.
Minimum Qualification
A valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL). Relevant technical knowledge and practical experience in aircraft maintenance, avionics, electrical/electronic systems, mechanical systems, or related aviation engineering disciplines. Good understanding of aircraft maintenance practices, aviation safety, and technical documentation. Ability to diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, electronic, and avionics-related faults. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, maintenance instructions, and engineering documentation. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills. High level of integrity, discipline, confidentiality, and professionalism. Ability to work effectively in demanding field and security operational environments.
Previous experience in UAV/Drone maintenance, repair, or technical support. Relevant UAV maintenance or manufacturer-specific technical certification. Experience in aircraft avionics, electronics, electrical systems, or instrumentation. Experience with advanced UAV platforms, ground control stations, communication systems, thermal imaging equipment, cameras, sensors, and surveillance payloads. Experience in security, defence, maritime, oil and gas, pipeline surveillance, or related operational environments. Knowledge of applicable Nigerian aviation and UAV regulatory requirements. Computer and networking skills relevant to UAV systems and ground control equipment.
