Job Title: Accountant (FMCG)

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in the FMCG industry to oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, statutory compliance, and day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing accounting, and the ability to provide financial insights that support business growth and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Manage the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. Prepare monthly management accounts and financial performance reports. Perform bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany reconciliations. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support business operations. Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Ensure proper costing of products, inventory valuation, and cost analysis within a manufacturing / FMCG environment. Prepare and file statutory returns, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension, NSITF, and other regulatory obligations. Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies during audits and statutory reviews. Manage fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure records. Monitor inventory movements and collaborate with warehouse and production teams to ensure accurate stock records. Maintain compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and accounting procedures. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, cost efficiency, and operational performance. Support management with financial analysis and strategic decision-making.


Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. ACA, ACCA, or ICAN certification is mandatory. Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the FMCG or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, inventory accounting, and cost accounting. Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Sage, Odoo, or similar accounting software. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Sound understanding of IFRS, Nigerian tax regulations, and statutory compliance requirements. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.


Salary
